“April is a promise that May is bound to keep.” |

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I'm completely baffled as to why we've never used this 1957 classic ballad before. Didn't we all memorize it as soon as it hit the air waves?? I know I did.

From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -
04/01/08 - "PRICELESS":
Dimples aka SepiThis is just too cute not to pass on...
Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home. As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver.
"You know," he said, "I am 87 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?"
The driver said, "No problem. Have at it."
Billy got into the driver's seat and they headed off down the highway. A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.
The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.
The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.
The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down, he was surprised to see who was driving.
He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor .
He told the supervisor, "I know we are supposed to enforce the law... But I also know that important people are given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person."
The supervisor asked, "Is it the governor?"
The young trooper said, "No, he's more important than that.'"
The supervisor said, "Oh, so it's the president."
The young trooper said, "No, he's even more important than that."
The supervisor finally asked, "Well then, who is it?"
The young trooper said, "I think it's Jesus, because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!"
Thanks,
Dimples!

From Joe Drewry ('58) of VA -
04/01/08 - "
Anne Redford Terry, NNHS58 - a journey revealed":
|
Did you know Anne Redford? I had to look up her picture in the Anchor. It was the picture of a good-natured elf.
I went to the memorial service, expecting to be one of a few.
The place was packed with friends and neighbors, many who gave moving
eulogies. She was very much a giver, care-taker, friend of all she
touched.
She was described as a self-effacing introvert who lived to help people.
She was known as the Matriarch and Mayor of Palen Avenue, a beautiful,
tree lined street of Hilton Village.
Her husband died of cancer in 1981. She was almost completely house-bound
from 2000-05 taking care of her mother and sister, both who battled
cancer.
She had been striving to expand her personal boundaries for a couple of
years. Getting more involved in activities outside the house. Anne often
took friends to her favorite lunch haunts,
Monty's Penguin and the Port Arthur.
For years, Anne was involved with "Relay for Life", the fundraiser for
cancer research. She was a long-time friend of Veronica Weymouth,
who discovered she had breast cancer a couple weeks after agreeing to
chair this years "Relay for Life". Anne really stepped up to provide
support for Veronica as she went through all the rigors of treatment for
breast cancer.
As usual, an interesting journey that those outside of a small circle of
friends and neighbors were completely unaware.
Take Care of yourself and do good...
|
Thank you so
much, Joe!
With this information I was able to create a Memorial Newsletter for Anne even

From Jeanette Parrish Houston ('64)
of VA - 04/02/08:
Hi Carol,
I hope you're feeling better.
I can answer that question about where Roy Parrish ('61) plays hockey as he is my brother. He has lived in Los Angeles for many years (since college days). He went there for school and fell in love with the lifestyle and his special Marsha. He has been playing for years and has traveled with his team. He amazes me with his stamina. I visited a couple of years ago and saw him in action. Like I said - amazing!
That would
definitely make you a reliable source, Jeanette! GIGGLES!
Thanks
so much!

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we've let them fly away. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Sometimes we just don't realize what real friendship means until it is too late. I don't want to let that happen so I'm gonna tie you to my heart so I never lose you. Send it to some balloons that you think have flown away forever. You may be surprised to see it return. Send this heart to everybody you like.
Thank you so much, Charlie! You were right - I did need this!

April Love
Words by
Paul Francis Webster;
Music by
Sammy Fain
(Pat
Boone,
1957)
April love is for the very young
Every star's a wishing star that shines for you
April love is all the seven wonders
One little kiss can tell you this is true
Sometimes an April day will suddenly bring showers
Rain to grow the flowers for her first bouquet
But April love can slip right through your fingers
So if she's the one don't let her run away
[Instrumental Interlude]
Sometimes an April day will suddenly bring showers
Rain to grow the flowers for her first bouquet
But April love can slip right through your fingers
So if she's the one don't let her run away
