Hello, I have had the pleasure of having Carol's wonderful computer talent
emailed to me by a friend for several months now. I would love to be
added to the list to receive the newsletters and also to have my
email address listed - they bring big smiles and "giggles". I graduated
in the Class of '64 and my maiden name was Brenda Davis. I live in the
Land of Oz - Kansas.
Thank you
Carol ('65 - of NC),
Dave (Spriggs - '64 - of VA), and all that contribute to the
newsletters - what a wonderful treasure!!
God bless!
Brenda Davis English

Hi, Carol:
As promised in my earlier message today, here is the
link from the College of William and Mary website regarding the retirement
of Coach Charles Woollum. It provides a nice tribute to the former
TYPHOON Basketball Coach.
My interest in your outstanding
website
and desiring to keep track of the former
Faculty
members motivates me to share these recent links, and I hope it will
stimulate some of your subscribers to the
Newsletter
to furnish photos and stories of the TYPHOON Basketball
teams during the tenure of Coach Woollum.
Coach Woollum who resides in Williamsburg, VA and is
enjoying golf in his retirement, and tees off with several former
TYPHOON Basketball alumni.
My son Michael Madagan met Coach Woollum at the
NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four this weekend in Indianapolis, and enjoyed
an update on the career of this famous Basketball Coach and moreover the
growth taking place on the Virginia Peninsula and more particularly the
expansion of the campus of
Christopher Newport University.
TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL
Okay, Joe, I finally did
this in my sleep last night. I hope it's correct and complete

Hi, Carol:
Please thank
Bill Campbell ('54) of VA for
clarifying the mystery or mix-up regarding
Donald Harvey ('53) of VA in the
Passover Wishes
Newsletter today. Donald was an outstanding
athlete and leader.
Yes, indeed
- thanks again, Bill!
You seemed to have skipped right over my closing
question, so I will repeat it since after all you are The
Conduit! Where is Dimples now???
AHHH, Dimples Dinwiddie! That was one of those - "OOOPS - Another interruption!" moments. Yesterday's Newsletter was replete with them. I repaired a few of them this morning..... I had spent an hour searching for at least one old image of Dimples, which I know exists. Her given name was quite interesting, something like, "Ozora". And if I could determine her class, it might be easier to find someone who knows of her current whereabouts. And this is now driving me totally nutsy. I know it's right here in one of these Anchors....... "Anyone? Anyone?"
Linda Lane Lane ('64) of VA so
beautifully expressed how so many of us feel about the loss of
Kathy Pilgrim Clark
('63)
. I have attempted several times to write my feelings
about the loss of this wonderful young lady. I had the pleasure of
assisting the Red Cross Instructor when Kathy took her Red Cross Water
Safety Instructor course many years ago. She was so perky and strong, and
strong willed!!!
I had the pleasure of teaching her twin brothers to
swim at the Municipal Pool
and they were fast learners and highly motivated just like Kathy. Her
insights and comments which you shared in many of the
Newsletters were
simply priceless. We sure do miss Kathy.
Thank you, Joe. We all
miss her so very much.
I know you are very busy with all your family back
home. I hesitate to ask, but may I please ask a favor that you post Coach
Woollum's updated data links for your subscribers. We are grieving the
loss of the Womens Basketball Head Coach who took the United States
Military Academy team to the NCAA for the first time. I suppose it puts a
sense of urgency into my day to ask this favor of you. It put a sad note
for those at the Final Four since she was in attendance with her brother
who is also a coach. Sad day for college basketball.
TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL
I'm so sorry to hear that, Joe. I've not had time to read, look, or listen to any news all week, and I'm now totally immersed in my Dixie Cup. People keep wanting me to do strange and weird things around here, like cook, wash, clean, start the taxes (no hurry there, right??)............ SHEESH!!! But it's finally
posted now. Thanks for the nudge.

Hi Carol.
Happy Spring. Somehow I have lost the
correct connection for the music part of the
newsletter. Do you know
which music link I should be using? If my question doesn't make sense,
maybe one of your "experts" could straighten me out. Although many people
have tried to do just that over the years (LOL) ... I usually just keep
muddling through. :) :)
Thank you.
Joan
Oh, dear. This is most dreadful. Although my MIDI-hating sons would say you have just received an Easter blessing, most of us would disagree with them. I confess this would leave me screaming as well. Why do things just suddenly and willfully change? Why do things simply disappear? Why do email addies suddenly no longer work? Why do I now receive an annoying message which reads, "Click to run an ActiveX on this webpage" - and offers me no other choice but "OK" - EVERY SINGLE TIME I CHANGE A PAGE?!? ARGHHH!!! I don't even know what "an ActiveX control" is, but I know what an annoyance is!!!! In the immortal words words of Pee Wee Herman, "I DON'T KNOW!!!" So I hollered in to my sweet adorable resident tech reps, who (just as predicted) replied amidst great gales of giggles, "Shout Hallelujah!" Rascals.
Let's see, now. Yep, sure enough, there it is: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/win.html Let us know if this
works, Joan. And don't forget to go back and listen to all the great
songs you missed! Thanks, Lady!

Hey,
Well if all else fails when missing the
music, check the speakers and see if they are on. My speakers had been
turned off. By whom, and what for I have NO idea. Grandchildren ...
can't live with them nor live without them. LOL. Thought you would get a
giggle from my stupidity. :) :)
Joan
Oh, my goodness! That's not stupidity, Lady, that's life!! I love it!!! Thanks, Joan, you made my
whole day!

Hi
Miss Carol,
I hope all is well with you and your family, and that you have a great Easter weekend! Thank you, Judy! And I wish the same for you and yours! I just want you to know that I have not received a newsletter since April 7, and that I really miss getting them.

Every now and then they upgrade their spam protection efforts, and you'll need to go into your AOL options and tell them that I'm not a spammer. Otherwise, you could just visit the main page or the Newsletter page of the site on a regular basis, and see when I've last updated that section so you won't miss anything: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/NNHS-Newsletters-2006.html Again, many thanks for the wonderful work you have done for the 1956 class -- you are one awesome lady.
That was my pleasure, Judy!
Thanks so much to you and the committee!
OHHH, YIKESARONI!!! I just remembered that I never finished running those scans on the In Memoriam Page for 1956! I wish that I could just wake up one morning and be as computer smart as you.
Oh, thank you, Pretty Lady, but you
might want to aspire a bit higher than that.

Oh, my goodness! What a beautiful job of cake decorating! But I am reminded of one of my mama's favorite soap box themes. She was not an admirer of certain non-traditional art forms, nor did she wish to become one. She frequently was heard saying, "If you can paint that well, why would you choose to paint something ugly, rather than something which would grace and beautify the world?!?" | ||
