We have yet another sad - if considerably belated - edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.
Carlton Skinnell of the Class of 1967, and brother of Carroll Skinnell
('69) of VA, passed away in Bedford on June 30 at the age of
57.

Carlton Lewis Skinnell
BEDFORD - Carlton Lewis Skinnell,
57, of Bedford passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007, in a local nursing home.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 4, 1949, in Lynchburg, Va., a son of Irene
Robertson Skinnell of Bedford and the late Robert Brown Skinnell. He was
also preceded in death by his grandparents, John Munford and Ollie Carwile
Robertson. He was a Mailcarrier at the Newport News Shipyard, a U.S. Army
veteran and was a member of the Mentow Baptist Church. In addition to his
mother, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Carroll C. and Betsy
Skinnell of Bedford; a niece and her husband, Bonnie Skinnell-Gray and
husband, Steven, of Denver, Colo.; his grandparents, William Granderson and
May Hackworth Skinnell of Bedford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, July 3, at Mentow Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Murphy.
Interment will follow in the Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may
call after noon on Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston, Va. |

| Robert Skinnell, Carlton's dad, was a great influence in my life. It saddens me to hear not only of Carlton's death, but the earlier passing of his father. May God bless the remaining members of the Skinnell family. |
