Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
GREAT NEWS FLASH (of the DUH variety....):
I finally found the hidden button which will enable me to blind carbon everyone's mail at once! YEE-HAAA!
A big thanks to Ron Miller ('59) of NC for his encouragement in continuing my quest for the hidden button.

UPDATES:
From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 08/25/04:
Now that I have my very own copy of a 1948
Anchor, here is a much better JPEG
of the old Monty's:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/montys.html
Dave also sent us two other images from that 1948 Anchor. See them here:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/FL-orange.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/teach-Gray.html
Thanks, Dave - what a treasure you found there!

I uploaded the
four new CRT images from Bruce Korusek (JMHS - '66) of VA.
You may find them about 2/3
of the way down the page. It would have been a piece of cake, but the
tables had become unstable, and were
sliding all around, and we just can't deal with unstable tables, now, can we?
There are three photos from 1951,
and one from July of 1965. Go take a peek:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/crt.html
Extra credit will be given for identifying the exact locations!
Thanks again, Bruce - these are great!

From Joe Madagan
('57) of FL - 08/27/04:
Incredible, Joe! Thanks so much!

I had just barely uploaded the four images sent to us by Bob Butler (HHS - '64) of VA on 08/26/04, when he sent some more:
Wurlitzer Style 153 Band Organ. The organ has 164 pipes, 16 bells, cymbal, snare drum and bass drum.
This organ has the sound which is most commonly associated with the merry-go-round and a great selection
of old time songs associated with the merry-go-round.
Hear a sample of this CD.
And, of course, many a Penny went into the Mutoscope Machines:
Sincerely,
Bob Butler
WOWZERS! Thanks for
sharing these, Bob! Y'all go check out the great new images of machines
from the Buckroe Arcade Bob sent:

Hi Carol:
Thanks, Kathy! We're glad to hear from you again.

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL - 08/27/04:
http://www.angelfire.com/va3/65nnhs/our-schools.html
Well, certainly, Adonis! It should have been on there from the beginning - an inexcusable oversight.
Before I do, I'd really like to
move all those schools off that odious portion of the site. I liked having
them on that
extra section before for sentimental reasons of my own, but now it's just too
horrendous. I hope that procedure
doesn't prove to be the nightmare I fear it might...

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL - 08/27/04:
BUSTED!!! GIGGLES!
Well, obviously,
Sweetie, I'm not always able to keep up with it all! I know I put
in 16 full hours on the site and Newsletter
combined yesterday, and I STILL didn't catch up to myself! I'll keep
pedaling; keep the faith.
Thanks, Joe - and Sandy!

From my #5 son, Nathaniel Harty of IL - 08/27/04:
Well, we didn't win. Jonathan Weir did. Honestly, I remember
thinking he was one of the worst contestants.
We kind of think he ran a script to clear the cache and continuously vote for
himself. I probably would have
done the same if I knew how, hehe. Oh well. C'est la vie. Tell
your classmates thanks, and that I appreciate
their efforts on my behalf. Love ya, and talk to ya later.
AWWWW, CRUM! Y'all we're so good (and that's as unbiased an opinion as I'm able to muster under the circumstances),
Well, obviously, there will be many more opportunities in the future. You and Jamie keep the faith, too!
Thanks, Nathaniel - see you soon!
And thanks to all of y'all who voted!

From Me ('65) in NC - 08/27/04:
A BIG
thanks for your recent
financial contributions which
enabled me to keep the site up and running for all of y'all.
Y'all are the best!

From Tom Norris (HHS - '73) of VA - 8/27/04:
ahhhh yes ..... Amory's. I remember riding
my bike there and buying devilled crabs out the back door,
so to speak.
They had a walkup window too if I remember (but hey ... it's been 40 years or
so, right??? And I vividly
remember those warm late spring or early fall days at Thorpe .... windows open
.... gentle breeze blowing
from the crab factory over on Armistead Ave. Coupled with the smell of Sunset
Creek and Indian River
at low tide .... makes a Hampton boy proud :-).
Carol .... I am home for three whole weeks ... will fire up the scanner with
lots of goodies from Hampton
and NN .... I have almost all of the Krabbas from 1924 up ... and many Anchors
and Beacons, and even a
few Warwick yearbooks from the 50s. Many great yesteryear pictures. And ... as a
bonus ... a class
picture of Mrs Pilgrim's 3rd grade class of 1963-64 at Sugden. See 'the babe' as
a youth!
Be good ...
Tom
Giggles! Thanks, Babe!
We'll look
forward eagerly to all your goodies. I'm just barely keeping my head above
water right now, but my husband's
going out of state for a week on a business trip tomorrow, so maybe I'll be able
to catch up then. And maybe I'll be able
to ride a broomstick to the moon, too!
"Be good? BE GOOD?!?" ME?!? Now, THAT'S FUNNY, Tom! WILDEST GIGGLES!!!

Saturday Night's Alright
- Elton John
It's getting late have you seen my mates
Ma tell me when the boys get here
It's seven o'clock and I want to rock
Want to get a belly full of beer
My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys
And my old lady she don't care
My sister looks cute in her braces and boots
A handful of grease in her hair
Don't give us none of your aggravation
We had it with your discipline
Saturday night's alright for fighting
Get a little action in
Get about as oiled as a diesel train
Gonna set this dance alight
`Cause Saturday night's the night I like
Saturday night's alright alright alright
Well they're packed pretty tight in here tonight
I'm looking for a dolly who'll see me right
I may use a little muscle to get what I need
I may sink a little drink and shout out "She's with me!"
A couple of the sounds that I really like
Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike
I'm a juvenile product of the working class
Whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass
