GREAT NEWS FLASH (of the DUH variety....):

I finally found the hidden button which will enable me to blind carbon everyone's mail at once! YEE-HAAA!

I uploaded the four new CRT images from Bruce Korusek (JMHS - '66) of VA. You may find them about 2/3
of the way down the page. It would have been a piece of cake, but the tables had become unstable, and were
sliding all around, and we just can't deal with unstable tables, now, can we? There are three photos from 1951,
and one from July of 1965. Go take a peek:

Hi, Carol:

Thanks for sharing the latest four photos of the CRT buses.

You got the first one correctly. It is the Norfolk Ferry Dock & Passenger Station at the foot of Terminal Avenue.
The wooden gates confirm it, along with the roof line of the terminal building.

Photo #2, Buckroe bus, sorry I cannot identify.

Photo #3 Buses queued up for Shipyard workers to board them for various destinations, on Washington Avenue
(while still 2-way traffic) adjacent to the main gate of the Shipyard.

Photo #4, heading east on 25th Street in the 300-Block, background is the law library and court annex, and jail annex.

I'd found your site by searching Carrousel or Calliope and Buckroe Beach. I'd only found your NNHS site after not finding
an e-mail address on the Buckroe Beach Site. I'd not found your site for the Carrousel until receipt of the letter from you tonight.

You may want to use the music for the Carrousel on this page (It's almost identical to that which was used on the original Carrousel

Wurlitzer Style 153 Band Organ. The organ has 164 pipes, 16 bells, cymbal, snare drum and bass drum.
This organ has the sound which is most commonly associated with the merry-go-round and a great selection
of old time songs associated with the merry-go-round.

This is the Standard Metal Typer machine which was used at Buckroe Beach. I believe that they used a 10 Cent mechanism back then.
For sure your dad made his token on a 10 Cent model.

I liked the Coin Operated Electric Shock Machine best ... groups of kids would hold hands and share the shock. Although with all of the
litigation today, they're a thing of the past.:

Now that so many other classes are actively engaged with the Web Site, perhaps you might consider
Thomas Jefferson School. It was located on the north side of 30th Street in the 600-block. The
original red brick multi-story structure sat next to Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Later, a new structure was erected just west of the old building, and it was a single story modern
building made of white brick. It reached the property adjacent to an Esso Station facing Jefferson Avenue.
The old red brick building was razed to make a playground.

Well, certainly, Adonis! It should have been on there from the beginning - an inexcusable oversight.

Before I do, I'd really like to move all those schools off that odious portion of the site. I liked having them on that
extra section before for sentimental reasons of my own, but now it's just too horrendous. I hope that procedure
doesn't prove to be the nightmare I fear it might...

Sandy Boatwright Carroll ('65) of VA and I have you cornered. Our Places of Worship really is incomplete
without Tabernacle Baptist Church. When you catch up on some of the backlog of Our Old Stomping Grounds,
you will find a suggestion regarding Thomas Jefferson School, which might be added to Our Schools When We
Were Younger, and as a reference to the location of the old brick multi-story building, I used Tabernacle Baptist
Church. They sat next to each other in the 600-Block of 30th Street back then.

Rev. Jack Tesh was the minister for many years, and his son, Jack Tesh, Jr. was a NNHS Graduate in the
Class of 1959. It will come together when you post Basketball in the near future.
We appreciate all that you do, and we wonder how you can keep up with it all.

Well, obviously, Sweetie, I'm not always able to keep up with it all! I know I put in 16 full hours on the site and Newsletter
combined yesterday, and I STILL didn't catch up to myself! I'll keep pedaling; keep the faith.

Well, we didn't win. Jonathan Weir did. Honestly, I remember thinking he was one of the worst contestants.
We kind of think he ran a script to clear the cache and continuously vote for himself. I probably would have

ahhhh yes ..... Amory's. I remember riding my bike there and buying devilled crabs out the back door,
so to speak.
They had a walkup window too if I remember (but hey ... it's been 40 years or so, right??? And I vividly
remember those warm late spring or early fall days at Thorpe .... windows open .... gentle breeze blowing
from the crab factory over on Armistead Ave. Coupled with the smell of Sunset Creek and Indian River
at low tide .... makes a Hampton boy proud :-).
Carol .... I am home for three whole weeks ... will fire up the scanner with lots of goodies from Hampton
and NN .... I have almost all of the Krabbas from 1924 up ... and many Anchors and Beacons, and even a
few Warwick yearbooks from the 50s. Many great yesteryear pictures. And ... as a bonus ... a class
picture of Mrs Pilgrim's 3rd grade class of 1963-64 at Sugden. See 'the babe' as a youth!
