Congratulations, David!
I'm working on a new Page Hit prize; it just needs a little tweaking.
Stay tuned. And thanks - for everything!

From
Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 08/28/06 -
"We have entered another season...":
| A while back I told you that our four
seasons are "Almost winter, winter, winter's almost over, and summer, which
lasts two weeks. Actually this year we had a week of 95-100 degree temps and
all of New England was in a state of shock! I was recovering from knee
surgery for torn cartilage and would have been laying low anyway so the heat
did not bother me. I just retired to our one air conditioned bedroom and
read my novel! Last night, however, I noticed that our summer was over. I
ditched my sandals in favor of some wool socks, dug out a sweatshirt, and
closed our double sliders, which had been open during our waking hours for
the better part of two months! It was about 55 degrees here! Our big ole
tomcat Roux, who loves to sit at the open doors and watch the
squirrels, birds, chipmunks, and occasional other wildlife scamper through
our yard, was totally discombobulated! I can't say that I miss the heat and
we needed the rain...now what was I going to do today?
WOW. I thought we had entered another season here, too, Jean. Silly me. We hit 99 degrees today. Those cooler days were just a little North Carolina joke. This afternoon it started raining quite hard while the sun was shining brightly. Crazy. Thanks, Lady! Enjoy
your nice weather. See you in September!

| Hi - Thank you Carol!!! My email is: evelynfish@msn.com for anyone who would like to contact me. :)
Thanks, Evelyn!
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/alumni-list.html Well, Evelyn, Then you said that your main shindig would be on Saturday, September 30. But if we're going to tour the high school at 11:00 AM, and be at the Point Plaza at 7:00 PM, I'm wondering if we can run back to Buckroe in between without falling in a heap on the floor before the night's over. And I have all that dancing to do! Then I didn't know if you wanted all the details of that broadly announced, lest the entire world descend upon you. At this point, any normal person would simply have asked you directly, but when was the last time anyone used the word "normal" in describing me?!? And by my latest count, I think I owe at least 70 people a personal note and/or email......... So, anyway, Lady, would you like me to print your announcement??? Thanks, Ev!

Not sure
when the next newsletter will come out, but I want to wish you a HAPPY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Wednesday. Hope you got my card. Please note I have
not mentioned the age thingy. Mine is next year, but I've decided
to start backwards at that time, so no BIG whatever for me! Hope you have
a wonderful birthday and know you're loved!
WILD
GIGGLES!!! I did indeed receive your card, Gloria!
Thanks so much! You know, I don't really care that the whole world
knows I'll be 59 tomorrow; that's a matter of public record. It's
just being 59 that bothers me! How on earth
did THAT happen?!?
Thanks again, Lady!

Dear Carol,
I also wanted to comment on the
tribute to Mr. Willey from
Eleanor (Buckley Nowitzky -
'59 - of NC). I don't remember him telling us the story of how he
motivated us, but I remember wanting to do well in his class, and I
remember him really pushing us to do better. What a fantastic teacher.
Thanks so much, Eleanor, for sharing the memory. I think
NNHS
had some of the best teachers around. We are very lucky people to have
been inspired by people like him.
Roberta
Thanks, Roberta! I added your comments to Mr. Willey's page, too: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/faculty.html |

| Hello again Carol; Noticed there were no e-mail addresses for the class of "58" so here is mine. cfaison@juno.com
Wal, jah,
Another problem I have if that I don't know and cannot find the class colors for the Class of 1958. This is messing with my compulsive-obsessiveness something fierce. I have temporarily colored that page grey. If any of y'all can remember that - or still have your senior pennant and can check - I'd be much less anxious. Meanwhile, here's your new page: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/contact-ALL.html

|
The True, BIBLICAL Origin of
the Internet
In
ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of
Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of
Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and
long of leg. Indeed, she had been called "Amazon Dot Com."
And she said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why dost thou travel far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, dear?"
And Dot replied,
"I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to
send messages saying what you have for sale and they will
reply telling you which hath the best price. And the sale can
be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable
(UPS)." |

From Colin Faison ('58) of VA - 08/28/06 - "Thoughts":
Hi Carol; Was telling my wife about these pages today and we both started remembering. She went to NNHS also, but did not graduate although she later went back and got her GED. She was asking me if maybe someone out there might have a picture of Pete's BBQ, next to the bowling alley close to the James River Bridge. She worked there for a while before and after we got married. In the interest of space, here are the fascinating results:

Dear Carol,
The first picture has been around many times before, but ... enjoy the 23 other pictures. Some of the pictures may have been staged or touched up digitally, but they are still interesting to see. I know you are very busy with your newsletters and getting School Mates informed about your Re-Union in Sept. I was wondering if you had any help with all the work you do on the newsletters and the many links you keep up to date. Well, yes and no. As in the "UPDATES" section above, there were obviously several people hard at work, remembering, researching, and imaging. But once they forward it all to me, I'm the one who still needs to put it all together - and I'm slower than molasses, which is why we're usually running a bit behind! I hope to annoy you later, but that's all for now,
Anytime, Sweetie!
And you never annoy me; I'm always delighted to hear from
you!

Fun Fun Fun
(The Beach Boys, 1964)
Well, she got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now
And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)
Well the girls can't stand her
'Cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
(You walk like an ace now you walk like an ace)
She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)
And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)
Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin' wise to you now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
But you can come along with me
'Cause we gotta a lot of things to do now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
