Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
| The cable
guys came around today to bury the cable which was uncovered by the last
cable guy who was repairing it when the sewer guys cut three of the six
cables the other day. Let's see, how many times does that mean I've
been Disconnected from My Life lately?!? That's right! And then
I was gone all afternoon. ARGHHH!!! Not that I ever turn into a Wild Woman or anything....... ![]() |

NEWBIES:

Brenda Eakes Insley ('66) of VA - 10/11/06:

Please add me to the mailing list for
the free Newsletter:
Brenda Eakes Insley - Class of '66. My email address is
gibi@comcast.net.
Thanks very much, I am really enjoying
the site, looking at all the memories from our school!
Brenda Insley
I'd be happy to
add you, Brenda!
It was good seeing you again at RJ's!
I have two or three
questions for you. First, do you still live in Virginia? Also, would
like like your email address posted for others to see, or would you prefer
it be kept hidden? And would you like your birthday posted on our
birthday list?
I'm glad you're enjoying
the site.
Thanks for the fast reply.
Hmmm, yeah, SHHHH!!!
I almost never reply to anyone individually anymore, much less quickly!
Don't tell anybody!
It was good seeing you and everyone
else! I really enjoyed Friday nite and Saturday morning, but had made
previous plans for Saturday nite, but wish we could have been there. I
saw some of the people (in the photos) that I had known from the class of
'60. The photos are great! Thanks so much for making this
web site available; it really is good to keep
up to date on everything that is going on in everyone's life! Seeing
Yes, I still live in VA, (in Richmond).
My email address can be posted for everyone to see, that is not a problem.
And yes, you can also post my birthday on the birthday list, since I'm
proud to be 58 yrs old; it is October 4, 1948.
Thanks for adding me, and I look forward
to getting the newsletters! I did not know that it existed until
Al Dorner ('66 - of VA) told me on Friday night at RJ's. I
have spent all morning just looking at the information on it!
Thanks again,
Brenda
That Albert
is such a Sweetie-Pie!

Oh, 'deed I do, Herbie Darlin'! It was on Thursday, June 23, 1960 in the Tunnel of Love at Buckroe Beach! I was just over two months shy of my thirteenth birthday. I certainly did like that ride! |

From Doug Nelson ('64) of VA -
10/09/06 - "Fellow Veteran of the 173rd Abn Bde":
| Hi Carol, I was looking at the pictures of the Class of '66 recently posted on your website. In the Saturday morning photos I noticed that in this photo http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/09-30-06-AM-RHT.html
Butch Kypriandes ('66) of VA is wearing a hat with the 173rd
Airborne Brigade "Sky Hook" patch, indicating he is a veteran of the 173rd.
As I emailed you once before, I was also a veteran of that unit in Vietnam.
I served in the 173rd from May of 1970 to Mar 29, 1971 on LZ English.
Looking up from my computer screen there is a plaque on the wall with the
same Sky Hook emblem given to me when I left the 51st Chemical Detachment.
That plaque says I served in the 51st from 3 Sep 1970 - 29 Mar 1971. From
May to September I was in the HHC/2/503rd where I served as the training NCO
until being transferred to the 51st. I was a draftee and was not actually
"airborne". I never jumped out of any flying object, even though I nearly
fell out helicopters a few times.I would be interested in knowing when he served and in what unit. Butch probably already knows that there is a 173d Airborne Brigade Association with a web site that I used to browse frequently, http://www.skysoldier.org/, and a web site for the current re-activated brigade home based in Vicenza, Italy, http://www.173abnbde.setaf.army.mil. Enjoying your photos, Doug Nelson Dahlgren, VA |
|
Well, Doug, had I not been so frustrated by the events of the past several
days, I would have had the foresight to have forwarded your note to Butch,
and we could have had a response by now! As it is, I'm carboning him
in on this Newsletter (he's not really on our
mailing list), and I'll tell you that
I know he retired as a Lt. Colonel.
Finding these links we
have one to another is one of my greatest joys, Doug. Thanks for
sharing another one with us!

everyone that helped and to all of those that attended. I have pictures

I have some of Friday night at RJ's, the

Carol:
Thank you for everything you do......you
are so amazing....The pictures I sent you were beautifully posted.....
It was wonderful seeing you at the
reunion. Any N.N.H.S. reunion would be
incomplete without your presence.
What an incredibly sweet thing
to say! Thank you, Fred!
It was so good seeing our friend
Yes, it
was!
I know soooo many people in this class,
though I was in the class of 1960....of course this was the class my
sister
Anyone who misses a reunion really has no idea what they are missing. The memorabilia display took a lot of effort but was fun and certainly worth every minute of it.
Those memorabilia
tables are so wonderful, Fred! To see all those precious
items again is to touch eternity. Thanks so much - to you and
Albert both - for all the time and trouble you took so that we might all
enjoy them for these last three reunions!
Take care, beautiful lady, Fred Mays, '60
of Newport News, VA.
OOOH!!!
Thanks for that, too!

Christine
Wilson Starkman ('68) of CA -
10/10/06:
|
Christine, Chandler Nelms Well, of
course you have the right to express any opinion you want, Chandler Darlin'!
Early on I set up a number of "rules" to follow. Most of those have changed and evolved as we and our mission have also changed and evolved. I had thought religion and politics might prove offensive and divisive, when we were attempting to be loving and unifying. We have long since strived to educate one another about many things, including our various religions, hopefully without feeling that we were forcing them upon each another. I believe now we have grown close enough to one another in our One Big Happy Family that we can recognize and respect that we all have political opinions - some of which may be and probably are conflicting - and still love and delight in one another. My own opinions on many topics are often so far out that very few people would agree with them, but I still feel that they love me, even though they know I'm weird. So while this may indeed be a risky time bomb, I certainly don't want you to feel that we're trying to stifle your right to free expression - any of you! Thank you, Gorgeous!
(But I'm still not going to print anything vulgar or risqué, so don't y'all start sending me a buncha outrageous stuff with any expectation of seeing it here! WILDER GIGGLES!!!) |

From
the President of the Class of 1965, Joe Wingo of NC - 10/10/06 - "Remember":
|
My Dear Carol, The attachment is a reminder of the sacrifices being made each and every day on our behalf by our fine servicemen and women. I thought it was very powerful. If you feel it is deserving of circulation through the newsletter, please do so. Dear Sweet Joe, I certainly agree that it needs to be seen! Unfortunately I am ignorant of the means needed to attach it to the Newsletter. It is very important to me that our armed forces are remembered every day for their service to the United States of America .(Us!) Again, I have no political agenda here. I just want to do whatever I can to insure they are never forgotten. I share your concern on that, Joe! And - as we've just discussed, it no longer matters if you did have a political agenda! So I looked to see if there was something similar I could find for us to see. An earlier version which was near and dear to my heart has been removed from the internet, much to my sorrow. I wasn't able to come as close as I had wanted, but I did find these: http://llerrah.com/battleoftheflag.htm http://www.usafns.com/email.shtml
http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/index.aspx I trust you are well and totally recovered from your reunion tour?? Well, more or less, I suppose! WILD GIGGLES!!! I certainly missed seeing you there; sorry you were not able to make it this year. Take care of yourself. Love, Joe
Thanks, Sweetie!

Sail On Sailor
- Brian Wilson
(The Beach Boys)
I sailed an
ocean, unsettled ocean
Through restful waters and deep commotion
Often frightened, unenlightened
Sail on, sail on sailor
I wrest the waters, fight Neptune's waters
Sail through the sorrows of life's marauders
Unrepenting, often empty
Sail on, sail on sailor
Caught like a sewer rat alone but I sail
Bought like a crust of bread, but oh, do I wail
Seldom stumble, never crumble
Try to tumble, life's a rumble
Feel the stinging I've been given
Never ending, unrelenting
Heartbreak searing, always fearing
Never caring, persevering
Sail on, sail on, sailor
I work the seaways, the gale-swept seaways
Past shipwrecked daughters of wicked waters
Uninspired, drenched and tired
Wail on, wail on, sailor
Always needing, even bleeding
Never feeding all my feelings
Damn the thunder, must I blunder
There's no wonder all I'm under
Stop the crying and the lying
And the sighing and my dying
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
