12/16/06 - NNHS Newsletter - Happy Hanukkah! Hanukkah
is here! |
|
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today is the first full day of Hanukkah! I found this web page last year which gives some interesting background information:
http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/rsstoneman/hanukkah.html?mtbrand=AOL_US
Of course,
it would be much more fun hearing your first-hand accounts!
Because unless you count playing with
Carla Fine's (Cripps - '65 - of Australia) and
Debby Fink's (Golden - '65 - of MA) dreidels in the cafeteria at
Magruder School (and I
certainly wouldn't - GIGGLES!), I really have no first-hand experience with
celebrating Hanukkah.

It's also the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge. You know what that means, doncha?!? That's right! It's time for your homework!

From Randy Tate ('66) of DE - 12/15/06 - "This is too funny!":
I may have sent this before but it is true and some may have forgotten some of the things this nice man says. Just a reminder.

Oh, I love this one, Randy!
I think this needs to be distributed on a monthly (if not weekly!)
basis. It seems the world is filled with dreamers who just can't resist
believing in totally impossible things. I'm a big dreamer myself, but even
I tend to give a passing nod to reality once in a while! Thanks, Sweetie!

WOWZERONI - congratulations, Pam! I'll keep you on until the
21st, and await hearing from you after that! Thanks for letting us know!
And enjoy your well-earned retirement!

Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
Hanukkah, Oh
Hanukkah
The sweet celebration
Around the feast we gather
in complete jubilation
Many are the reasons for good cheer
Now that the Season of Lights is here
Many are the reasons for good cheer
Now that the Season of Lights is here
Together we'll weather
whatever tomorrow may bring
So hear us rejoicing and merrily voicing
the Hanukkah song that we sing
So hear us rejoicing and merrily voicing
the Hanukkah song that we sing
Oh Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
The Festival of Joy
A holiday, a jolly day
for every girl and boy
Whirling dreidels all week long
Eating latkes, singing songs
Whirling dreidels all week long
Eating latkes, singing songs
Now light them, tonight then
The candles all in a row
Retell the story of God in his glory
and dance by the flickering glow
Retell the story and God in his glory
dance by the flickering glow
