One Shining Moment In Time
Fifty-seven, and our senior year,
At the state meet we’ll always revere,
T'was
our one final try,
To defeat Granby High,
In the mile relay race of the year.
A sixteen year old kid named Raoul,
Was the runner who started it all,
Weinstein took the stick first,
Left the blocks in a burst,
And he brought it home “hitting the wall.”
Harvey Weinstein would run second lap,
His handoff from Raoul was a snap,
Round that huge Cary Field,
Harvey just would not yield,
And protected our scant two-yard gap.
Kim Whiteside may not look that tough,
But on that day he ran up to snuff,
Whiteside never looked back,
As he held off the pack,
Down the home stretch Kim still had his stuff.
Now the whole race came down to Coltrane,
He faced Durmon, our old foe and bane,
Dickie’s anchor was splendid,
Our Granby dearth ended,
As state mile relay kings we would reign.
Fifty years since that eighteenth of May,
When our relay team had the last say,
And I’m proud to have been,
One of four “Quarter-Men,”
Who will always remember that day.

Catch Us If You Can
(Dave Clark Five)
Here
they come again, mmm, catch us if
you can, mmm.
Catch us if you can, catch us if you can,
Catch us if you can, catch us if you can.
Now we gotta run, mmm, no more time
for fun, mmm.
Catch us if you can, catch us if you can,
Catch us if you can, catch us if you can.
