James Edward Holderby, Sr.
PELHAM, ALA. - James Edward Holderby Sr., formerly of Newport News, passed
away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. Mr. Holderby was a member of Shades Mountain
Baptist Church, where he taught a couples Sunday school class and served as a
deacon. He retired from Washington Group Corporation, where he worked as manager
of grounds and facilities. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Holderby; two
sons, Jim Holderby Jr. and his wife, Ilse, of Birmingham, Ala., and Sean
Holderby and his wife, Amy, of Raleigh, N.C.; his daughter, Pam Jenkins and her
husband, Ken, of Alpharetta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Nik, Ben, Daniel,
Britne and Makayla. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at
Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, Ala. A funeral service will be conducted
at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at Peninsula Funeral Home, officiated by the
Rev. Lindsay Poteat. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial
donations be made to Habitat for Humanity of greater Birmingham, P.O. Box 540,
Fairfield, AL 35064.
