Isidore 'Irv' Sandler
BOCA RATON, FLA. -
Isidore 'Irv' Sandler, 87, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Boca Raton, Fla. He
was born in New York City, yet spent the majority of his life residing in
Newport News. After graduating high school at the age of 14, Mr. Sandler
attended City College of NY and the University of Basel in Switzerland. He
honorably served his country as an Army sergeant, which included combat service
for two years in Europe during WWII. Mr. Sandler owned several furniture stores
in the Tidewater area for many years, after which he pursued a successful
commercial real estate career for over 30 years. He was active in local politics
and served as a state delegate at the 1968 Democratic Presidential Convention.
Mr. Sandler was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Hannah B.
Sandler. He is survived by two devoted daughters, Diane S. Marcus of Potomac,
Md., and Janet Sandler-Suvall of Boca Raton, Fla.; a loving brother and sister,
Morris Sandler and Ida Vogel, both of Boca Raton, Fla.; four beloved
grandchildren, Robin and Kelly Marcus, both of Potomac, Md., and Alex and
Marissa Suvall, both of Boca Raton, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. Tuesday at B'Nai Israel Congregation in Hampton. Burial will follow in
Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
