Marion ("Peggy") Beasley Owen
HAMPTON - Mrs. Marion
(Peggy) Owen, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, surrounded by her family. A native of Hinton, W.Va.,
Mrs. Owen was a Peninsula resident for 62 years. She was an active member of
Parkview Baptist Church since 1977 where she was member, teacher and treasurer
of Faith Sunday School Class; Director of Homebound Ministries for 10 years; and
member of the Joy Club, Joy Singers and W.M.U. She also was a volunteer with
Riverside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her first
husband of 50 years, Alvin E. Beasley. Survivors include her husband, Curtis
Owen; three sons, Robert (Bob) Beasley of Newport News, Richard (Dick) Beasley
of Gloucester, Alvin (Ed) Beasley of Panama; five stepchildren, Billy Owen of
Newport News, Janie Passaro, Patsy Niemotka, Vicky Ellis and Rose Spencer, all
of Hampton; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous
step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends
Monday, Feb. 2, beginning at 10 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church. Funeral
services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Lawrence J. Biermann and
Dr. R. Furman Kenney officiating. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Baptist Church Building Fund, 604
Hilton Blvd., Newport News, VA 23605. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
