Since you posted a couple of new pages in the section known as Our Old Stomping Grounds, let me add a comment about Pittman's Grocery which was located at 26th Street and Marshall Avenue in East End.

The owner of this grocery store lived on the second floor of this brick structure. His son, Merritt Guy Pittman was in the Class of 1957. We used to ride the Citizens Rapid Transit bus to school from the bus stop on the corner of Marshall Avenue and 28th Street. When Mr. Pittman sold the business, he provided an opportunity for his long time employee, the butcher, to purchase the business. I should be able to remember this name, but it escapes me right now. Duhhh. If you would like, I'll can call you about 0200 when I recall his name.

East Side, West Side

Words and Music by Lawlor and Blake - 1928

Down in front of Casey's
Old brown wooden stoop,
On a summer's evening,
We formed a merry group;
Boys and girls together,
We would sing and waltz,
While Tony played the organ on
The Sidewalks Of New York.

Chorus:
East side, West side,
All around the town,
The tots sang "ring a rosie,"
"London Bridge is falling down."
Boys and girls together,
Me and Mamie O' Rourke,
Tripped the light fantastic
On The Sidewalks Of New York.
