My father,
Robert Buckley, M.D., served as Chief of the
Domiciliary Clinic at Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital
from February 1954 until his death on 25 Apr 1960. He always lovingly
referred to the facility itself as "Kecoughtan",
and to his patients - regardless of their age - as "his boys". They had a
mutual admiration society; they adored
one another. He took a deep personal interest in each and every one of
them. When his funeral was conducted
from the base chapel 46 years ago today, as many as could crowded into the tiny
church. One of my strongest
memories is of entering the drive for that last time, and seeing men everywhere
in their pajamas and robes,
openly weeping and lined up to pay their respects to their beloved "Chief" who
had died so suddenly.

heart jumped when I read your message, Paula, but when I saw the photos,
alas, I did not recognize In the hope that someone else will be able to identify the people in your images, I have posted them here. |

Carol, this website offers so much to all of us TYPHOONS. What is amazing is how enlightening it can be.
I worked with Dave Biggs ('62 - of VA) for
many years at the Veterans Hospital. He was the Chief of Human Resources and I
was the Chief Accountant.
Therefore, we had much contact in our dealings with hiring, personnel matters
and of course the biggee, funds. However, in all that interaction,
I never knew he was a TYPHOON. How could that be. AMAZING. Dave is an
outstanding person and soooo worthy to be a TYPHOON. HA.

high school!
When Johnny
Comes Marching Home Again
- Patrick Sarsfield
Gilmore
When Johnny comes marching home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The men will cheer, the boys will shout,
The ladies they will all turn out,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
The old church bells will peal with joy,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
To welcome home our darling boy,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
Let love and friendship on that day,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Their choicest treasures then display,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
And let each one perform some part
To fill with joy the warrior's heart,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home
