   We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.

  From Susie Overton Jones ('63) of AL - 02/11/07 - "Sad news":

..... In reading today's Daily Press I saw that one of the class of '63 had passed away. The obituary is below.  Seems so sad that we are losing so many of our classmates.....

   I'm so sorry to hear this, Susie.  I read this notice early this morning, and as so often happens, it failed to register with me.  Thank you so much for letting us know.

  Jackie Roland Stech Byrd
 
SALE CITY, GA. - Jackie Roland Stech Byrd, 62, of Sale City, Ga., and formerly of Newport News, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at her home. Born Jan. 12, 1945, in Glynn County, Ga., she was the daughter of James Ollie Roland and the late Ethel Mims Roland. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Stech, and a brother, James O. Roland Jr. Survivors include her husband, James E. Byrd of Sale City; her father of Sale City; and a son, Darrell Stech of Sale City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel, Moultrie, Ga. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Roland,

I am so sorry to hear about Jackie. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Darrell and James. It has been a couple of years since I talked to Jackie. We went to school together and I lived in your house on 54th St. I am sure you remember my mother, Alda Garner. May God be with you and your family.
