   We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.

From Elizabeth Tedder Nunnally ('68) of VA - 06/19/07 - "Sad news":

Carol,

I saw in today's Daily Press that    Harry Eugene Walling passed Sunday, June 17. He went by "Gene" and lived across from the Mays on Sycamore Avenue. I believe he was in the class of 1962 (or '63). He married Kitty Clark in '62, I believe. I understand that they have been divorced maybe 10 years or so. There was a very nice current picture of him with the obit. Just thought you would want to know, but I guess you will get several e-mails letting you know.

Hope things and better and the skies are brighter.

   I'm so sorry to hear this, Elizabeth.  I actually read this notice yesterday and again early this morning, and knew in my heart it was Gene, but refused to even check to verify it, as if my failure to do so would render it not a reality.  When no one reported it yesterday, it gave me hope it was someone else.  Even though it was a shock, thank you so much for letting us know.

   I always remember with a chuckle what Gene submitted to the 1962 Reunion Committee back in 1997 for their 35-Year Reunion Booklet:

   "...I like hunting, fishing, and chubby-legged women."

		Harry Eugene Walling ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY - Harry Eugene Walling, 63, died Sunday, June 17, 2007. A native of Rockbridge Colo., he was a Smithfield resident since 1990. Mr. Walling retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a Naval Nuclear Quality Inspector after 37 years of service. He was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, Hampton. Mr. Walling was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta Reid and Harry M. Walling, Jr. He was also preceded in death by Robert 'Bo' Dutton. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Lee Walling and her husband, Tore Fareid of Gloucester Point; mother, Carolyn Dutton; six brothers, Gary B. Walling, William E. Dutton, Robert E. Dutton, Stephen Dutton, Kim DeBoissiere and Tim DeBoissier; four sisters, Brenda Freeman, Mary O'Connell, Debi Maschal and Michelle Cunningham and his uncle, Walter F. Walling. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News. Graveside services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Collierstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lexington. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. I thought this was the NN Gene Walling but when it said native of CO, I was not sure.

He lived on the same side of Sycamore Avenue, a few houses down from us. I remember him because    Linda Waterfield (Kenney - '66 - of VA) had a crush on him. I know she thought he and Kitty (Clark) were a cute couple. He had a new Mustang with the round window in the back when he was dating Kitty. We thought that was so neat.

I was sad to hear of his death.

..... I am sure you already know about our (’62) classmates passing last week,  Gene Walling. We are all still shocked from that one. Gene was always so witty; he was kind of like the person you thought would be around forever, if you know what I mean.
