08/04/04 - NNHS Newsletter - Where's Richard?!?
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I'm going to save the major Updates for tomorrow's Newsletter, and just hit the Notes and Newbies.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
NEWBIES:
1. Jimmy Starboard ('55) of VA
- 8/03/04 - courtesy of Sarah Puckett Kressaty ('65) of VA -
who happens to be Jimmy's cousin!
2. Kiddy Dickens Starboard
('55) of VA - 08/03/04 - also courtesy of Sarah Puckett Kressaty
('65) of VA - who happens to be Kiddy's husband's cousin!
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL
said I have to calm down and stop being a brat and not biff Sarah for not
telling me that
Jimmy was her cousin forty-eleven years ago. Sheesh - I wasn't gonna biff
her very hard, Joe!
But, welcome, Jimmy and Kiddy! You're now listed here on the Alumni Page:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/alumni-list.html
And thanks, Sarah - really! Giggles!

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - and Chairman of the Class of 1964 - 40th Reunion Committee - 08/02/04:
Despite all my vaunted magic, I am stumped
trying to find Richard Cantor ('65).
Could you put out the call in the next newsletter, explaining that we hope to
reunite
every member of the 1964 Championship Basketball Team?
Certainly, Dave! This is critically important. It wouldn't be the same - or even be fair -
Thanks!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
From Suzanne VanNoy Mink ('64) - 07/31/04:
Thank you, Suzanne!
I'm looking forward to seeing you there, too! I remember you as one of the
most elegant, beautiful
girls in the school. I wouldn't dream of missing this particular reunion!
It's going to be unbelievably, incredibly wonderful!
And I understand your excitement! I went to our 10th Reunion in 1975, and
then fell off the Ends of the Earth myself (well,
actually, I was in Missouri and Illinois for 30 years - same thing!), and didn't
get to another Reunion until our 35th in 2000.
That's why I raid them all now!
Best wishes with
your ten pounds. I was hoping for twenty or thirty myself.........GIGGLES!
Although I don't really care
any more, as long as I can see everyone again! (On the other hand, I'd
just as soon not reapply that 65-pound blubber coating
I wore for all those many years, either......)

OH, Brownie! What fabulous news!!! Congratulations! It'll be such fun when you move back!

From Shirley Caudill
Williamson ('65) of VA - 07/31/04:
Hey Carol, My husband
and I really enjoy your web site. He went to Hampton High School. I told him I
felt like a traitor. Ha! Ha!
Sure would like to see our birthdays on your birthdays link. Mine is March
11, 1946 and my husband, Howard L. Williamson's,
is December 4, 1944. We really enjoy your NNHS newsletter and web site and
we appreciate all the hard work that you put into it.
We will gladly join your parade any time. We noticed that Sandi Bateman
Chestnut's husband graduated from Nakina High School
in Nakina, NC. My husband has many family members that live there in that
small community. Two of his uncles graduated from
Nakina High School. Their names were Roy and Ray Faulk. What a small
world we live in. Thanks for letting me share this with you.
Thanks,
Shirley! I'm more than happy to add y'all to the Birthday Page. The "smallness"
of our world never ceases
to startle and amaze - and delight me! And thanks for joining my parade!
Giggles!

From Sarah Puckett Kressaty
of VA - 07/31/04:
I was just checking out the pictures on the site of Sandi's new grandbaby,
and you don't think I'll let THAT pass,
do you, without sending some new ones of mine???????? Great to hear from
Charles B.!! What a life! Sarah
Don't be silly,
Sarah! We couldn't have THAT sort of thing, now could we?!?
Giggles! Thanks for the pretty pictures - they're adorable!

From Albert Dorner ('66) of
VA - 08/01/04:
Hey Carol, Just a note to say hi. Things
are going well this summer. We spent a lovely week in Folley Beach, SC.
(32 people in one house for one week!!) You can add me to the
birthdates...10-21-47. Peace and love, Albert
Thanks, Albert! That's quite a mind-boggling crowd! Hope y'all had fun!

From Belinda Fortner Langston
('70) of VA - 08/01/04:
Please change my email address on the guestbook
- belindalangston@cox.net
Also, add me to your birthday list : October 21.....
I love this website...you are great!
Thanks...
- Belinda
Thank you, Belinda!
The bad news is - the Guest Book is a world unto itself. Sometimes it allows me
to edit it,
sometimes it won't let me in, and sometimes it is more interested in giving me a
"delightful" Trojan horse virus
than anything else. I recommend that you re-sign the Guest Book with your
new email address until I'm able
to battle the dragon. I WILL fix it at my earliest opportunity, but that
won't be for awhile, unfortunately.

From Susan Whitcomb Harlin
('72) of TX - 08/01/04:
Hi Carol,
I think I might have been hit number 24,500. I was on my husband's computer this
morning.
I think you were,
too, Susan! Congratulations! Say, did I ever send you your first two
ornaments? I really should
start keeping better records....

From Pam Smith Arnold ('65)
of VA - 08/01/04:
Carol,
I don't deal well with death either. It is because we are both so full of life.
It's okay. Love, Pam
BTW - love the pictures you added. I sent the one to Laura where she was
"embracing" Geoff -
that's okay - he's her husband. I am getting some good mileage out of that one.
Thanks, Pam!
I couldn't resist that shot of Laura and Geoff! I LOVE hugs! In
fact, I'm planning to collect a
good year's supply of them at the reunion. It's a proven fact that hugs
are necessary to human survival. If I recall
Ashley Montagu's
research correctly, I believe the recognized standard for thriving is twelve
hugs daily. I shall
be very busy in October! WILD GIGGLES!!!

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL
- 08/03/04:
Jimmy Starboard ('55) ... broke
the record for the 100 Yard Dash while running track at NNHS.
That was an exciting time. He could run like the wind.
Thanks, Joe! I had forgotten
that part. I remembered Jimmy as Best All Around in his class - and of
course, what a really, really
cute guy he was (some things never change!) - but I was only seven years old,
and not really into sports much. Thanks for sharing that
with us, Adonis!

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA
- 08/02/04:
It seems to me that there has been very little activity on the WGH page
lately.
Perhaps these additions will liven things up:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/wgh.html
OOOOH, David, you
certainly do know how to liven things up, I must say! These are awesome!
Thanks so much!

The Saga of the Rings (continued):
From Pam Smith Arnold ('65) of VA - 07/31/04:
Ring stories!
I never liked my ring - thought it was too big -
and rarely wore it. But my daughter, Laura,
found it as she was growing up and now she wears it constantly. She loves it and
says it
makes her think of me. Okay - so that is mushy - but I think it is sweet. It is
beautiful here
in Williamsburg - hope it is where you are too! Love - Pam
What a neat story! Thanks, Pam! I still have my mama's 10K gold 1925 John Marshall High School ring. I used

From Judy Phillips Allen
('66) of VA - 08/02/04:
This unfortunately
won't work, as Josten's threw away the mold when NNHS closed, but thanks for
thinking of Brian,
Judy!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Well, this was
"posta be" a quick short Newsletter, with all the major Updates saved for
later, but you see how long it is.
Isn't it fun, though?!?
Y'all take care.
Love to all, Carol
