Thomas Anderson Price, Jr.
NEWPORT NEWS - Thomas
Anderson Price, 75, passed away, surrounded by his loving family on
Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, after a courageous battle with a long illness.
He was born in Newport News, the son of the late Thomas A, Sr. and
Alberta H. Price. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1951.
Upon graduating, he entered the U.S. Army and served from 1952 to 1954.
Upon his discharge, he joined the Newport News Fire Department and
served for 29 years. He retired as Captain in 1983. He was one of the
Washington Redskins most avid fans in the world. He had the privilege of
seeing every home game with his family, until he was unable to attend.
He married his high school sweetheart, Christine Price in 1952 and in
March of 2002, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He is
survived by his wife, Christine Price; two sons, Robert (Bobby) Price
and Keith Price, whom he thought were the greatest. He is also survived
by the lady who he truly thought of as a daughter, Mary Beth Price, the
wife of Keith and then there are the 'boys' as he called the apple of
his eyes, Tyler and Graham. Other than his two sons, nothing was more
precious to him as the time he shared with Tyler and Graham. Other
survivors include his mother, Alberta H. Price; sister, Jane London and
her husband, Jack; brother, Robert E. Price and a host of nieces,
nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends that will miss him greatly.
Tommie's goal in life was to be everything that he could be to his
family and he achieved that goal 100%. The family will receive friends
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at Peninsula Funeral Home. A
funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
with burial to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park with Newport News Fire
Department Honors. |

| Christine and
family, We have lost a wonderful member of our family. A fond memory is of Tommy wearing a sweat shirt in 95 degree weather at the beach. No matter how bad he felt he was always in the thick of things. His love of his family kept him going until he just could not go anymore. Our prayers are with you! Love, Jack and Marfa |

Christine and family, This family has lost one of its best. You were so blessed to have has such a wonderful husband , father, and grandfather. I know how much you all will miss him. He was a wonderful brother and I will miss him so much. He was one of the hardest workers I have ever known. He wanted only the best for you all. We have all known Tommy was not well for such a long time. But, we could not prepare for the day he would no be here with us all. We all were blessed to have just known him and we loved him, and we love you all. Hold each other close and know that one day we will see him again. Love always, Jane |

Robert, It's been a lot of years but I still remember you as the track star and football player. Excelled at both, as I recall! Please accept my sincere condolences at the loss of your brother. While I did not have the pleasure of knowing him personally, I know you and I'm certain you both were cut from the same cloth. Therefore, I know he was a real standup guy. Wishing you and your family all the peace and comfort possible, I am, sincerely Joe Wingo |

Dear family, I am a family member from northern Virginia. I remember many happy occasions when the family got together in the 1950s at the house on Huntington Avenue, North End. My great grandmother was Alice Baker Price, my grandmother Myrtle Price Kingsolver, my mother Elizabeth Gates Donahue. Lots of memories. They sustain us through our lives. |

| To my dear, precious Bobby, Keith, Mary Beth, Tyler and Graham. My heart is truly breaking for the loss of our most dear husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Tom was the epitome of love, kindness, integrity and Christianity that can be seen on this earth. Like you, I will be forever grateful that God chose to let him be in our lives. I know that he will remain in our hearts and minds forever and I firmly believe that we will once again see him as our reward. He loved you all so very much. When he spoke of each of you to me there was a warm, sunshiny light that was very visible in his eyes and you knew he was speaking from the depths of his heart. Know that he carried all of you very close to his heart and you were never far away in his mind. I thank God that you all will have dear, dear and fond memories of him to carry in your hearts. Love you all Mom, Grandma and Chris |
