('66) of VA sent 12/06/06 Thanks, Jamey! |
I had a surprise phone call from my good friend, Jamey Douglas Bacon ('66) of VA today. That was one of the highlights of my week - especially when she said she remembered me as "such a sweet girl" - which came as a real shock to me, but a very pleasant one. We laughed and giggled and reminisced and had a great time. She told me she would be sending me this image of Hilton Pier.
After discovering just how poor my memory is, she asked me if I'd ever been there.
I said, "That depends. Was it a place to go parking?"

She said, "No, you hussy!", but by then I was laughing too hard to remember what she said.

Thanks again, Jamey! You really lifted my spirits!
..... From Aug 57 until I got married Dec 61, Hilton was my ground. We got off the bus and bought our cokes at White's Drugs and all summers were spent at Hilton Pier, and to this day, that is where I go if I have things to sort out or just feel down in the dumps. I took a picture of the pier at sunset one day in January when I got a new cell phone and that is my wallpaper!

Thanks, Karrin!
I am still in Hilton Village. I can't imagine living anywhere else, except maybe Wilmington, NC. My fondest memories are going down to Hilton Pier at about 10 in the morning and having my mother come down and drag me home for dinner, those were the thin tan years. We had two lifeguards, one being my future brother in law Dan Adams, who later taught English at NNHS.
